| | Welcome
Welcome to Oakenshield Defenders - LOTRO! This site exists to help the members of the Oakenshield Defenders Kinship on the Meneldor Server in Lord of The Rings Online (LOTRO). If you are an OD member, please create an account here and send an email to Sumaxx (Suma) or Proator and we will grant you member access. Once done with that, please go to the "Roster" page and enter all your character names, classes, races, etc. Also, remember to go to the "Calendar" page and adjust the time for your time zone. This is important as the Kinship web site will adjust for each players time zone. Thus, when a raid or other kinship event is scheduled, the time shown for the event will be in your local time (no need to adjust for a different time zone!). Also note that we have a Ventrilo server for the Kinship. Chatting with your kinship mates is much better than typing to them so we encourage everyone to download Vent and join in on the conversation. When we start raiding, we will require Vent, even if you don't have a microphone, so that you can hear the instructions being given out to the raid group by the raid leader. You can download the Client at www.ventrilo.com (under Downloads). The server data is here: http://oaktemp.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=174848&ForumID=823596&TabID=1479665&TopicID=4906061Thanks and we hope you enjoy your time in the Oakenshield Defenders! News

THE LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE™: Mines of moria™ unveiled at connect 08
Volume II of the 2007 PC Game of the Year Expected to Arrive at Retail This Fall BIRMINGHAM, UK – March 14, 2008 - Turbine, Inc. and Codemasters Online today unveiled Volume II of The Lord of the Rings Online™, the first retail expansion for the award-winning massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG). Announced in Birmingham, the childhood home of J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings Online™: Mines of Moria™ will expand the online world of Middle-earth to let players explore the ancient underground cities of the dwarves, battle epic characters in the depths, face off with the Watcher, be a part of the fateful release of Durin’s Bane and more! The Lord of the Rings Online expects to open Volume II of its epic story in the fall of 2008 with an increased level cap, two new classes and the introduction of a unique item advancement system. “The Mines of Moria is one of the most epic settings in all of fantasy fiction,” said Jim Crowley, president and CEO of Turbine, Inc. “No one delivers more quality content than Turbine and with our journey into Moria, we will raise the bar even higher. We are adding vast amounts of content, debuting massive new environments and unveiling numerous unique feature sets, like item advancement, which will create entirely new dimensions of compelling game play and social interaction which are unique to The Lord of the Rings Online experience.” NEW FEATURES:
- Speak Friend, and Enter – Moria, called Khazad-dûm by the dwarves, was their capital and the grandest of cities. This enormous underground cavern in north-western Middle-earth, comprises an immense network of tunnels, chambers, mines and huge halls that run beneath and ultimately through the Misty Mountains. For the first time, players of The Lord of the Rings Online will enter this ancient city which has served as the foundation for the modern-day dungeon-crawling adventures to battle the hordes of goblins and the Nameless of the Deep and journey through hundreds of new quests within six new kinds of stunning environments.
- The Epic Continues! — The Mines of Moria represents the beginning of Volume II of The Lord of the Rings Online. Players can experience six new books as part of this update and participate in the release of Durin’s Bane, battle the Watcher, aid Galadriel and more!
- Increased Level Cap — Players will be able advance their characters up to level 60, gaining access to new traits, virtues, skills and class quests. The crafting system will also expand, giving players the ability to craft even more powerful items.
- Discover Two New Classes — The Rune-keeper and the Warden, the first new classes to be introduced since the launch of the game, allow players to build exciting and powerful new characters in The Lord of the Rings Online in diverse new ways.
- Forge Legendary Items – The Mines of Moria will introduce Turbine’s new item advancement system to The Lord of the Rings Online. Players will be able to forge weapons and class-related equipment and evolve them to build a legacy the likes of Bilbo’s Sting and Gandalf’s Glamdring. These legendary weapons will level-up along with the player, allowing customization by advancing the item’s virtues, adding runic legacies, modifying its titles and forming fables.
To celebrate this exciting news, Turbine and Codemasters also announced today that they will kick off a major promotion that invites everyone to unlock the Mines of Moria by visiting http://www.unlocktheminesofmoria.com. Visitors can learn more about Mines of Moria and play special mini-games that will be periodically released over the coming months. Certain players who participate can complete special deeds through game play and other means to unlock exclusive previews, assets and special in-game items that may help them when they delve into Mines of Moria this fall. The Unlock the Mines of Moria promotion is scheduled to begin at the end of this month.

First, tonight's push includes a new selection under the "In Beta" area of the Control Panel, which allows you to provide your own custom HTML for the body of all pages on your site. Next, we've addressed some bugs that have been reported concerning the editor (sorry folks, looks like we were wrong about it being a cookies issue). Info sections have also had a bug fixed.

The new chat room is finally fully operational and we believe most of the quirky behavior some are seeing in the new editor control are related to old cookies. Try clearing those out (especially in FireFox -- grrr) and if you still have trouble, let us know via support ticket, please.

Lord of the Rings Online guilds will notice a few new features that went along with the editor push tonight. Namely, guild rosters now load directly from Turbine's servers, and the editor (when posting) has a "One Ring" icon that, when clicked, helps you add links to LOTRO-related goodies. The roster will load from Turbine's servers only if there is an exact match for your guild name and the server you selected when you started the guild. If either are incorrect, they can be modified in the Control Panel under Guild Name and Server. LOTRO Integration can be disabled/re-enabled in the Control Panel as well, under LOTRO Integration.

We will be deploying the latest version of the WYSIWYG editor later today. It will resolve issues with IE 8, and has a few neat things that we can do with it, moving forward. We are testing it in the latest versions of all browsers, and also ensuring compatibility with a version back, where feasible. For some browsers with rapid release schedules (like Firefox), please ensure you have auto-updates configured.

Enhancements going live this morning: around 40 new custom forum emoticons available for you to set in your Control Panel (under Custom Images : Emoticons). Also, clicking on an event from the monthly calendar view will take you directly to the event you selected, instead of displaying all events on that day. Of course, some probably liked seeing all of the events for the day, so what we've done to compensate was put a list of all events for that day to the right, above the two small selection calendars you see when viewing an event. It's got an animated opening -- you can't miss it. =)

Clicking the Edit button under an Alliances content type now loads the correct editor. In some cases, the Edit button under Image Gallery types wouldn't show up. Fixed.
